Like most of you, I love using FRED® from the St. Louis Fed!
However, for exploring the Z.1 Flow of Funds, I wanted something more interactive and customizable. Data Deflator makes it easy to explore the tables and dataset in full. I can mash it up with other data beyond what FRED®'s Data Transformation can do. Since I couldn't find anything like this out there, I built it.
Data Deflator also visualizes equities data a bit differently. I often look at equities relative to each other or to currencies, commodities, macroeconomic time series, etc. The deflating and normalizing are dynamic. The open/close visualizations are pretty neat too. And there's more to come.
Data Deflator is currently a hobby project provided "as is", with no guarantees of data accuracy or cleanliness. I've used a very small sample of equities data (removable at any time) to better showcase Data Deflator (and my personal skill set). For my own private usage, Data Deflator has an almost complete set of equities data but I currently don't have a license to publicly publish this entire dataset.
